SIH EEIG acts as a lighthouse in the European innovation ecosystem, guiding research institutions, companies, and public stakeholders toward higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). As the national coordinator of the Strategic Research and Innovation Partnership (SRIP) Health – Medicine within Slovenia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy, SIH EEIG drives innovation in areas such as cancer treatment, personalized medicine, biopharmaceuticals, active healthy ageing, and herbal-based natural products. It provides comprehensive support throughout the innovation lifecycle, including EU project design, implementation, and scaling, facilitating strong cross-border partnerships and impactful solutions.
As a 3-star Reference Site within the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA), SIH EEIG promotes wellbeing and healthy lifestyles as key components of the silver economy. In recent years, the organization has contributed to the widespread adoption of digital health tools, such as the Mobile Health (R)evolution application. This solution—piloted under the Vanguard Initiative’s Smart Health stream—supports chronic disease management and was validated through twinning with Spain’s Extremadura region. SIH EEIG has also played a key role in projects like IN-4-AHA (H2020) and the Senior Eco-Nect Horizon initiative, and has hosted high-level EU workshops on innovation uptake and elderly empowerment. As a member of leading European platforms (e.g., TIM, Medic Nest, ECCP, Vanguard Initiative/Smart Health, ECHAlliance), SIH EEIG continues to shape policy, accelerate technology adoption, and enhance Slovenia’s role in the global innovation landscape.
